– A semana inicia bem, a gente sempre quer vencer. Na lateral estou me sentindo bem e onde me botarem para jogar eu estou jogando – afirmou.

– Estou me sentindo bem na lateral, estou ‘firmasso’.

+ Ronald supera adaptação e vira boa arma ofensiva do Botafogo

Ele é do bem – colocou.

A jogada do gol do Chay começa comigo, roubamos a bola, o Oyama toca para o Ronald, ele me dá a bola e eu cruzo.O melhor jeito é a correria.

Everton struck gold on ace who’s now worth 6x more than Doucoure

In recent times, Everton have had to work on a shoestring budget given their FFP troubles, with most signings either on free transfers or low transfer fees.

The FFP issues have allowed boss Sean Dyche to work closely with his squad, creating a tight-knit group that can fight relegation despite their points deduction this season.

Everton manager Sean Dyche.

Players such as Jarrad Branthwaite and Jordan Pickford have been crucial in the defensive third for the Toffees, with Dyche's side currently boasting the best defensive record of any side outside the Premier League's top four.

The duo have both been named in Gareth Southgate's latest England squad – reflecting their sensational displays for the club so far in what has been a tricky campaign for the club.

However, in the near future, the pair might be joined by a Toffees teammate within the England setup after his impressive season under Dyche.

James Garner's stats at Everton

Since arriving at Goodison Park during the summer of 2022, midfielder James Garner has impressed in multiple different positions under Dyche.

He's often been utilised at right-back and right-midfield before finally cementing his place in the Toffees' midfield alongside Idrissa Gueye, with Abdoulaye Doucoure playing slightly further forward.

Everton midfielder James Garner.

The former Manchester United youngster has made 51 appearances since his switch to Goodison, scoring twice including a stunner in the Carabao Cup tie against Aston Villa at Villa Park.

His stats this season are very impressive, with the former Nottingham Forest loanee averaging 1.6 interceptions per game in the Premier League this season – a figure that ranks him within the top 7% of all midfielders in Europe's top five leagues this season.

Garner also averages 2.6 tackles per 90 this season, with the midfielder demonstrating his ball-winning qualities in the middle of Dyche's side.

The 23-year-old has also excelled in possession for the Toffees, averaging 3.6 progressive passes per game with the midfielder racking up two assists in the Premier League so far this campaign.

James Garner's market value in 2024

Garner joined the club for £9m back in the summer of 2022 from fellow Premier League side Man United, with the midfielder once having a big future at Old Trafford.

Nearly two years on from his arrival in the North West, Garner now has a market value of €30m (£25m), with the 23-year-old currently worth just over six times more than in-form teammate Doucoure, who's value sits at €5m (£4m) – as per CIES Football Observatory.

While at 31, Doucoure's age may be a factor in that minimal market value, the expectation would have been that a player who has netted six league goals this season would be one of the most valuable members of the squad, yet it is Garner who is seemingly on the rise.

The "exceptional" midfielder, as dubbed by former Premier League 'keeper Paul Robinson, has been key to Dyche's side this campaign as they look to avoid relegation to the Championship.

Farke must ease Summerville blow by unleashing £25k-p/w Leeds star

Leeds United have a chance to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup as they travel from Yorkshire to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this evening.

The Whites overcame Plymouth Argyle, after extra-time, in the last round to set up this tie against the Premier League outfit, who lost the League Cup final to Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday.

Daniel Farke's side are currently vying for promotion back to the top-flight as they sit second in the Championship table, following on from their 3-1 win over Leicester City on Friday night.

Daniel Farke.

It remains to seen whether they see tonight's match as a welcome distraction or one that could knock their momentum in the league. The answer to that could be found in the German head coach's team selection if he does or does not rest a number of key players.

However, the former Norwich City boss could be forced to drop some of his key performers due to a number of injury issues picked up since the last match.

Latest Leeds team news

Farke revealed in his pre-match press conference that three of his attacking players may not be available for the trip to Stamford Bridge this evening.

Star winger Crysencio Summerville rolled his ankle and the manager has claimed that the Dutch gem "might" not be fit to face the Blues in the FA Cup.

The former Feyenoord youngster is not the only potential absentee for the Whites, though, as Patrick Bamford has minor calf and ankle injuries that he is currently dealing with.

His absence would come as a blow for the side as it would limit the head coach's options at the top end of the pitch. He has also been in fantastic form of late, with two goals in his last two league appearances, and could have been a difference-maker with his quality in front of goal.

Farke has also revealed that Georginio Rutter has a hip flexor problem that means that he will be forced to make a late decision on his involvement in the match.

As you can see in the table above, the French magician has been in fantastic form for Leeds in the second tier this season, particularly as a creative threat for the side, which is why it would also be a blow to lose him for this clash with Chelsea.

The manager may not want to risk any of those three players if they injuries to deal with as he may not want to cause further injury issues for them ahead of crucial Championship matches for the sake of a cup game.

With this in mind, Summerville must now be risked and should be left out of the squad, or on the bench, to avoid losing him for a longer period of time.

Whilst not starting the Dutchman is not ideal, given his form this season, Farke could ease the blow by unleashing Jaidon Anthony from the start.

Crysencio Summerville's electric form

The 22-year-old star has been a fantastic performer for Leeds throughout the Championship season so far as both a scorer and a creator of goals.

Crysencio Summerville.

He has racked up 15 goals from an Expected Goals of 12.09 across 31 appearances in the second tier, which shows that the talented whiz has been ruthless in front of goal as a finisher.

Summerville has rarely missed a good opportunity to find the back of the net, as shown by his overperformance in comparison to the quality of chances, and is currently the top scorer within the squad.

The Whites star has also provided creativity for his teammates with 9.42 Expected Assists and eight assists, along with 16 'big chances' created and 2.9 key passes per game.

This suggests that his fellow attackers have let him down at times as they have not made the best of the opportunities that he has been able to create for them in the Championship.

Only Rutter (12) has provided more assists than Summerville for Leeds, whilst no player within the squad has produced more goals and assists combined than the Dutch gem (23) has so far.

Why Jaidon Anthony could ease Summerville blow

The Whites swooped to sign Anthony on loan from Bournemouth last summer but the English winger has not had too many chances to impress.

Summerville's electric form has prevented the Cherries ace from starting matches on a regular basis but that does not mean that he is not an excellent option for Farke to call upon.

The £25k-per-week wizard has only started two of his 23 appearances in the Championship – scoring one goal. However, he started both games against Plymouth in the fourth round and caught the eye on the left wing.

As you can see in the table above, Anthony provided a big threat as both a scorer and a creator in those two matches and was unfortunate not to register an assist from the eight chances that he created for his teammates.

The talented gem, who was once hailed as "first-class" by ex-boss Scott Parker, also showcased his attacking quality in the Championship for Bournemouth during the 2021/22 campaign, as they won promotion to the Premier League.

He scored eight goals, provided seven assists, and created 18 'big chances' in 45 appearances in the second tier for the Cherries as they finished second.

Leeds winger Jaidon Anthony.

The 24-year-old ace ranked within the top 10% of attacking midfielders and wingers within the division for Expected Assisted Goals (0.25) per 90, and the top 8% for shot-creating actions (4.26) per 90, which shows that not many players made a greater impact in the final third in his position.

These statistics, and his form in the fourth round of the FA Cup this season, suggest that Anthony does have the quality to make a big impact at the top end of the pitch, as a scorer and a creator, when he is at his best.

Whether or not the young speedster can reach his top form tonight remains to be seen but unleashing him from the start could ease the injury blow to Summerville, should Anthony showcase the best of his abilities.

Celtic reach "total agreement" for January signing after new development

Celtic are now seemingly close to announcing their first signing of the January window with a reported target now due to have a medical after a "total agreement" was reached with the Scottish Premiership champions.

Celtic slowly making moves in the transfer market…

Brendan Rodgers made his desire to add extra quality to his side in the January window clearer than ever to the point the Northern Irishman has almost sounded like a broken record as he looks to guide Celtic to a third successive league title.

Back in December, the 50-year-old signalled his plan for the mid-season market, stating via Sky Sports: "There's no doubt now that, one, the squad will come down in numbers and obviously we need to add quality. There is no dressing it up, the group lost real quality players in the summer. That's something that over the coming windows we will look to improve on."

Nevertheless, departures have mainly filled the brief for reporters when discussing the Hoops' transfer business. Yosuke Ideguchi and Kwon Hyeok-kyu have left the club for Vissel Kobe and St Mirren, respectively. Gustaf Lagerbielke, Yuki Kobayashi, Marco Tilio, Benjamin Siegrist and Alexandro Bernabei have also been mentioned as potential undesirables in the context of Rodgers' squad heading into the second half of the season.

Getting players off the books this window will be an important endeavour for the Hoops to reduce wage expenditure; nevertheless, in more exciting news, Celtic now look to be on the verge of confirming their first winter signing, as per a new development.

Nicolas Kuhn set to join Celtic…

Taking to social media platform X, Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has confirmed that Rapid Vienna winger Nicolas Kuhn is now on the verge of joining Celtic after reaching a "total agreement" for a fee in the region of €3.5 million + add-ons, with a medical scheduled for Monday.

Celtic fans will be delighted to see a deal to sign the former Germany Under-20 international now being close to completion and their hopes of bringing the 24-year-old to Parkhead were subject to a major boost earlier this week after The Scottish Sun revealed that Kuhn had been granted a work permit ahead of his move to Glasgow.

Labelled "technically strong" by Bayern Munich academy manager Jochen Sauer, Kuhn has notched three goals and seven assists across 22 appearances this season (Kuhn statistics – Transfermarkt).

The future of football? Dutch FA proposes five revolutionary rule changes including unlimited subs and self-pass free kicks

The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) has proposed five major rule changes that could change the way the game is played in the future.

  • KNVB propose five radical rule changes
  • Want 30-minute halves with stop clocks
  • Unlimited flying substitutions and sin-bins

    WHAT HAPPENED?

The method that football is played has changed significantly in the last few years throughout the entire game. Everything from the implementation of VAR to modifications to handball regulations and the maximum amount of substitutes permitted. The Dutch FA's secretary-general, Gijs de Jong, has now suggested the five modifications discussed by the KNVB in the game's regulations.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

First of all, the Dutch FA wants kick-ins to take the place of throw-ins. They also want the introduction of sin bins, a proposal that the International Football Association Board (IFAB) has already discussed. They also want self-passes from free kicks and flying replacements, which would effectively let a manager make as many substitutions as they would like throughout a match.

The most significant rule change recommendation comes in their final proposal, which calls for two 30-minute halves instead of the normal 45. They have also proposed for the stop clock to be paused every time there is a stoppage in the game so as to have a guaranteed 60 minutes of action.

    DID YOU KNOW?

reports that when PSV hosts the Otten Innovation Cup in August, the KNVB will be testing all rule modifications. The KNVB has already instituted kick-ins and self-pass free-kicks in youth football.

The suggestions have already been met with strong resistance by fans online and it may be unlikely to be seen implemented in the game at least for the next few years. However, the final decisions will obviously lie in the hands of the IFAB.

Spurs could sign Kulusevski clone with move for "special" £21m gem

Tottenham Hotspur have wrestled with a stark loss of form over recent weeks but returned to winning ways with an excellent 4-1 victory over Newcastle United last weekend.

Ange Postecoglou will have been most displeased with his side's decline, having won eight of his first ten matches in the Premier League – drawing the other two – and winning a trio of Manager of the Month awards to announce himself to English football emphatically.

Ange Postecoglou.

How Spurs have been restored since the Australian's appointment has been stunning, with the eighth-placed finish of 2022/23 a poignant memory fading into the ether: while Tottenham's thinness has been their undoing of late, the fluency and attacking verve has hinted at fruitful future fortunes.

Postecoglou needs to strengthen in January, bolstering his ranks to compete against the division's best as the season stretches into its decisive phase after the new year, and the attacking area is of great importance.

Tottenham transfer news – Matias Soule

While many Lilywhites supporters will be aware of Tottenham's interest in a young Juventus forward named Samuel Iling-Junior, Daniel Levy and his transfer team have been enticed by further starlets from the Old Lady's squad, with Matias Soule identified.

Spurs could repeat Maddison masterclass with move for £20m "assist machine"

Tottenham will look to strengthen the ranks in January.

ByAngus Sinclair Dec 12, 2023

According to journalist Fabio Santini – via Sport Witness – Spurs, alongside Crystal Palace, are interested in signing Soule after his impressive performances on loan with Serie A side Frosinone, following news from Calciomercato earlier in December that revealed Tottenham's attention.

Santini said that Juve could seek to recuperate funds as they target central midfield additions and will attempt to cash in on Soule, valued at a ballpark fee of €25m (£21m).

Tottenham have a good relationship with the Turin club after signing Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur in recent years, and could use such former deals to engineer a transfer.

Matias Soule's season in numbers

Last season, the 20-year-old scored his first goal for Juventus and played a bit-part role as he honed his craft, starting four times in Serie A, but Massimiliano Allegri probably made the right decision in allowing him to further improve elsewhere, shipping him out on loan in the summer.

As per Sofascore, the 5 foot 9 whiz has been immense now he has been taken off the leash, scoring six goals and supplying one assist across 13 outings in the Italian top-flight this term, however, his influence stretches far beyond this surface-level contribution.

Completing 81% of his passes. Soule has also averaged three key passes and 5.6 ball recoveries per game while making 4.5 dribbles each outing – for comparison, Manchester City's Jeremy Doku is averaging 4.0 dribbles per game in the Premier League.

Described as an "exciting talent" by Statman Dave, Tottenham would pull off a coup in securing this youngster's signature, and Postecoglou simply has to act incisively to snap him up.

Matias Soule's style of play

While Soule's "superb" dribbling style is his standout attribute – as hailed by talent scout Jacek Kulig – there is little question that he is blooming into a multi-faceted player with a keen eye for goal and a natural intelligence in decision-making and movement.

While he would be effective on the left, his eagerness to weave inside and beat his man highlights his hunger and mettle in attacking sequences, always looking to inflict damage on his opponents and earning praise from journalist Zach Lowy, who noted his "special" skill set.

Boasting some impressive and evenly spread metrics, Soule ranks among the top 13% of attacking midfielders and wingers across Europe's top five leagues over the past year for goals, the top 7% for shot-creating actions, the top 9% for progressive passes, the top 1% for successful take-ons and the top 5% for blocks per 90, as per FBref.

Artful and penetrative, he is likened to Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze, which is probably a definitive factor behind the Eagles' interest as they look to complement their fleet-footed star.

For Spurs, augmenting their offensive ranks with a player of such quality is only going to tantalise riches down the line, with Soule's innate eye for goal and skill in driving the ball forward, progressing the play as an unstoppable wide vehicle, something that will prove invaluable as Postecoglou looks to return to European competition and indeed thrive on the continental stage.

How Soule compares to Dejan Kulusevski

Since Soule principally plays on the right wing, he would find himself in direct competition with Kulusevski, who intriguingly also arrived from Juventus, signing for £25m in the summer after completing an initial 18-month loan.

It's perhaps a fair assessment that Soule has the makings of a natural finisher in a way that Kulusevski cannot emulate; the Sweden international has a melange of noteworthy qualities but ranks among the bottom 29% of positional peers for goals scored per 90.

That said, he ranks among the top 19% for tackles and the top 20% for interceptions per 90, having been praised for his attributes recently by Sky Sports' Jamie Weir.

The reporter said: "Dejan Kulusevski really is a special special player. Works so hard, covers every blade of grass. Hell of an engine on him, and just so much heart."

As per Sofascore, the 23-year-old has also completed 83% of his passes in the Premier League this season while averaging 2.3 key passes per game, evidencing his creative flair and effectiveness in Postecoglou's squad, having started all 16 league fixtures.

Such contrasting skill sets could be crucial for Spurs going forward, adding some prodigious talent to the right flank to further the development – with the struggling Bryan Gil the counterweight, the balance is somewhat askew.

Given that Kulusevski has also played a central creative role at times recently, and by utilising his spark he could create a constant passage through to the danger area, from which the Argentinian talent could wreak havoc.

Bolstering with an exciting youngster such as Soule could be the perfect move for Spurs, who can look ahead with much optimism once again after a testing period.
