Man United Make Bid For 25 y/o Captain

Manchester United have reportedly made a bid to sign Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

What’s the latest Man United transfer news?

The Red Devils and Erik ten Hag appear to be on the hunt for more signings this summer after securing a move for Mason Mount.

The England international has become the first player through the door at Old Trafford ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, joining in a deal worth an initial £55m plus a further £5m in player performance add-ons.

With a new midfielder brought in, attentions now appear to be turning towards a new goalkeeper after David de Gea’s contract expire at the end of June. The Spaniard’s future remains up in the air, with Inter Milan’s Andre Onana appearing to be a key target to come in and take over as first choice.

Reports have suggested that personal terms have been agreed with the Cameroon international and a new verbal €45m offer has been made to the Serie A side, although Inter are thought to be holding out for €60m.

Should De Gea move on and Onana arrive, another goalkeeper could still be of interest to those at Old Trafford, especially with Dean Henderson wanted back at Nottingham Forest, this time on a permanent deal.

Therefore, Onana and Tom Heaton could eventually be the only senior options for Ten Hag, but another new target appears to be Bayindir.

The Daily Express relayed reports from Turkey over the past 48 hours regarding Man United and Bayindir. It is claimed that the Red Devils have launched a shock swoop to sign the Turkey international, with a €3m (£2.5m) bid submitted.

Bayindir is ‘widely recognised as one of the best goalkeepers in the Super Lig and he could yet reach new heights if he was to seal a move to Old Trafford, although it's highly unlikely he would be coming in as the No.1’.

Who is Altay Bayindir?

Bayindir is 25 years of age and has been with Fenerbahce since 2019 after leaving Ankaragucu. Valued at €11m by Transfermarkt, Bayindir is under contract until 2027 and is named as Fenerbahce’s club captain. He has made 141 appearances for the club in all competitions, keeping 42 clean sheets and conceding 160 goals.

A five-cap Turkey international, Bayindir was once praised by former Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil when the German was playing alongside the goalkeeper for Fenerbahce.

As per FBref, Bayindir has been compared to Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale and Newcastle United’s Nick Pope, so he could be a smart signing in a relatively cheap transfer. He stops more crosses than De Gea and his average length of goal kicks is shorter than the Spaniard, so he could be viewed as a shrewd addition at Old Trafford, potentially playing second choice to someone like Onana.

There should be plenty of chances for Bayindir to feature in domestic cup competitions, though, with Man United in four competitions, including the Champions League, and it looks as if a deal is one to keep a close eye on following this update.

Man United Eye Move For £55m "Monster"

An update has emerged regarding Manchester United’s pursuit of Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, and it will come as good news to Erik ten Hag as he aims to significantly bolster his attack ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

How much will Dusan Vlahovic cost?

Having been linked with a move for the Serbian hitman earlier this summer, Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport (via Man United News) are reporting that Juventus have lowered their asking price to just €65m (£55m) and this could tempt Ten Hag into making a move for the player.

The Serie A side had previously valued him at around €80m (£68m) according to the same publication, and although it still represents a large fee, it is much lower than previously expected.

The Old Trafford outfit made a bid to sign Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, which included a players plus cash deal, according to The Athletic, yet it was booted out by the Italian side as they aren’t looking to budge from their £86m price tag that has been set for the youngster.

Vlahovic then, could turn into an ideal alternative for Hojlund should any potential move fail to materialise during the transfer window.

Could Manchester United sign Dusan Vlahovic?

The Red Devils have made just one acquisition this summer, luring Mason Mount from Chelsea and although this is certainly a step in the right direction with regard to bolstering his attacking options, Ten Hag now needs a proper centre forward to join ahead of next term.

Only Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes scored more than ten goals for the club throughout the whole of last season and the Dutchman will be looking for another one or two players who could arrive and boost this area.

Despite conceding just 43 goals in 38 league matches, United scored only 58 goals, with all but two of the top ten scoring more than them and this heightens their need for a player who could score plenty.

Vlahovic didn’t enjoy the best season for Juventus compared to previous years, yet he still managed to score 14 goals and grab four assists across all competitions, and he could prove to be a big upgrade on Anthony Martial, who managed just 12 goal contributions in comparisons.

Indeed, not only does the Serbian score more than Martial, he has also registered more shots per 90 (3.12 to 2.26), taken more touches in the attacking penalty area (144 to 58) and made more progressive carries into the final third (29 to 15) suggesting that his game revolves around more than just scoring, and he puts himself in excellent positions to shoot often and also in order to create chances for others.

dusan-vlahovic-juventus-tottenham-hotspur-transfer-gossip-postecoglou-maddison

Lauded as a “monster” by journalist Carlo Garganese, Vlahovic, as evidenced by the statistics, offers a more well round approach than Martial, while also being capable of scoring more often and this should tempt Ten Hag into making a move for him this summer.

The fee of £55m may seem a lot on the surface, but in terms of value for money and the chance to further develop the 23-year-old at United, it could be a wise investment by the club.

Wolves: Reporter shocked at "unbelievable" business

Wolverhampton Wanderers are in the midst of a very "bizarre" and "weird" summer transfer window due to the number of players they are selling and the price they are selling them for, claims journalist Ryan Taylor.

Wolverhampton Wanderers transfer news – what's the latest?

It hasn't been the transfer window that fans of the Old Gold would have been hoping for so far this year, nor would they likely have been expecting it.

It is the first year since the club's return to the Premier League that the Black Country club hasn't splashed the cash on new faces to help improve the squad, with the only signing thus far being goalkeeper Tom King, who joined from League One side Northampton Town and will be the clubs new third choice shot-stopper.

Instead of incomings, the club seems to be almost solely focused on outgoings at the moment, with some major names leaving the club over the last month.

The most prominent of all is undoubtedly club captain Ruben Neves, who, after six years with Wolves, joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal in a club record sale worth £47m.

Ruben Neves Wolves

Others to have left include Conor Coady, Nathan Collins, Hayao Kawabe, Diego Costa, Joao Moutinho, and Adama Traore, who is currently a free agent.

What has Ryan Taylor said about Wolverhampton Wanderers' transfer window?

Taylor explained his bewilderment at the prices Wolves have been getting for their sold players.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he said: "I find the whole Wolves summer transfer window bizarre. They've had a lot of players, we've talked about it. But suddenly, they've found great deals for many of their outgoings.

"Neves leaving for £47m is unbelievable, although I know that's Saudi-related. But then you've got Nathan Collins. I find it weird that he's allowed to depart for £23m because he only cost £20m a year ago. He's probably not fancied by Lopetegui.

"Conor Coady has gone for decent money. Everton could have signed him for £4.5m, but they've now sold him [to Leicester] for £7.5m to £8.5m with add-ons."

Why are Wolverhampton Wanderers selling so many players?

The primary reason for the firesale that looks to be going on at Wolves this summer is concerns over the clubs' ability to remain within the framework of the Premier League's profit and loss regulations.

The regulations stipulate that a club cannot lose over £105m in a three-year period, with the punishment for doing so being anything from additional fines to points deductions.

According to The Athletic, the West Midlands side aren't currently expected to break these regulations, but another summer of free-spending without a significant amount of money coming in would definitely have tipped them over the line.

Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves.

One of the biggest reasons as to why Wolves find themselves in this situation is because they have spent so much over recent years for relatively little reward. Last season, for example, the team spent over £100m on player transfers but failed to qualify for any European competitions.

With that in mind, the summer business at Wolves starts to make a bit more sense, and it might just be a summer in which the club has to avoid spending for the sake of their long-term health and Premier League status.

Aston Villa Could Sign "Amazing" Diaby Alternative For £35m

Aston Villa are now on a mission to add depth and quality.

In a stunning second half of the season, which ended with seven consecutive home victories and a total of 49 points from 25 games including victories against Manchester United and Tottenham, Brighton (twice), and Chelsea, meant they ended a long-awaited 13 absence from European football.

The Midlands outfit miraculously climbed from the brink of relegation to a Europa Conference League qualification spot.

They now face the exciting task of preparing for the demands of playing in multiple competitions, and look to add to the impressive signings of Youri Tielemans and Pau Torres.

Strengthening wide attacking areas has been described as ‘the most pressing’ concern, and with the attempted capture of Moussa Diaby proving to be tricky, the club may turn their attention to Jeremy Doku.

What’s the latest on Jeremy Doku to Aston Villa?

According to Ghana Soccer Net (via Sport Witness), Villa have seen an initial bid of €25m (£22m) for the Doku rejected, but a deal could be completed quickly if they raise their offer.

The Rennes whiz has been described as one of Unai Emery’s 'key targets', but Villa’s proposal was not enough to persuade the French club to proceed with talks.

The report details that Rennes is seeking a fee in the region of €40m (£35m) and if an agreement is reached with a second offer then the deal could be completed by the end of the week.

What can Jeremy Doku bring to Aston Villa?

Doku has been at Rennes since 2020, but last season, in what was his most productive year, he has been catapulted into the spotlight.

Across 35 appearances across all competitions, the Belgian, who was once hailed as “amazing” by Jacek Kulig, recorded 11 goal involvements. However, his most eye-catching attribute has been his dribbling, in which he even trumps Diaby.

The 21-year-old outperforms his elder for progressive carries per 90 (6.95 vs 4.04) and successful take-ons per 90 (6.59 vs 1.77). Even more impressively, these figures mean that Doku ranks within the best 1% in Europe’s top five leagues among his positional peers for the aforementioned metrics.

The winger has merged this scintillating directness with some sensational creativity. Although Doku only managed two assists in Ligue 1 last term, he sits within the top 1% for xAG (expected assisted goals), which demonstrates that if he was partnered with more clinical forwards he could achieve some frightening numbers.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe was perhaps ahead of the curve in how he rates Doku as back in 2021, he said:

“Recently, I was speaking with my father about a player who impressed me because of his speed qualities, that is Doku, at Rennes.

"In five years as a professional, I have never seen someone from a standing start demonstrate so much power."

With this spectacular profile, Doku can be viewed as an equal to Diaby, and an easier target to acquire.

moussa-diaby

Villa has recently just submitted a second bid for the Bayer Leverkusen gem of around €50m (£43m), which the Germans are yet to formally respond to.

Although Diaby has a more well-known and esteemed reputation, the ridiculous numbers behind Doku’s rapidly mounting potential would make a dream alternative for Unai Emery.

Man Utd Lodge £30m Bid To Land Jorginho 2.0

There has been an update regarding Manchester United's pursuit of Fiorentina playmaker, Sofyan Amrabat…

What's the latest on Amrabat to Man United?

Following reports that an "agreement" has been reached with the 26-year-old regarding personal terms, Sportitalia have claimed that the Red Devils have 'presented' an offer to the Serie A side, with a fee of around €35m (£30m) having been suggested.

The piece notes that the Moroccan international is now just 'one step away' from joining the Old Trafford outfit, with the player himself said to be 'ready to leave' Florence in order to make the move to the Premier League.

The former Club Brugge ace – who worked under Erik ten Hag previously at FC Utrecht – currently has just a year left to run on his existing contract, thus allowing United to wrap up a deal without breaking the bank.

What is Sofyan Amrabat's style of play?

While Ten Hag began his summer spend by acquiring Mason Mount from rivals Chelsea, it looks as if the former Ajax boss is seeking to bolster his midfield ranks even further, particularly with the likes of Fred and Donny van de Beek facing uncertain futures at the club.

With Mount set to bring extra "dynamism" to United's midfield in an attacking number eight berth – in the words of his manager – the addition of Amrabat is seemingly set to help solve a different need, with the Netherlands-born ace set to offer a composed, ball-playing presence in front of the back our.

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho

In many ways, the "underrated" talent – as described by writer Muhammad Butt – takes on a similar role to that of Jorginho at Arsenal, and before that at Chelsea, with the two men both said to share a number of stylistic and statistical similarities, according to FBref.

That likeness between Amrabat and the Italy international – who also made the move to England from Serie A – can be seen by how they typically operate in a deep-lying midfield role and are unlikely to bomb forward too regularly, with the Fiorentina star ranking in just the bottom 6% among his European peers for touches in the attacking penalty area, while the ex-Napoli man ranks in just the bottom 28% in that regard.

What that disciplined nature does is allow the pair to attempt to dictate the tempo of the game in the centre of the park as well as look to get the ball forward to the more attack-minded talents where possible, with Jorginho notably ranking in the 9% for attempted passes and the top 11% for progressive passes, while Amrabat ranks in the top 11% and the top 8% for those same two metrics, respectively.

The beauty of having such assets at the base of the midfield is that they also rarely play their team into trouble or squander possession, with Amrabat and Jorginho ranking in the top 5% and the top 15%, respectively, for pass completion as a sign of that innate composure.

That comparison to the latter man is of note as it was not too long ago that the Brazil-born maestro was dubbed the "best midfielder in Europe" by ex-United boss, Jose Mourinho, with the 31-year-old having also claimed the UEFA Men's Player of the Year award back in 2021.

The experienced asset did endure his early teething problems while at Stamford Bridge – having suffered early criticism from Blues supporters following his arrival from Naples in 2018 – although has since come out the other side to prove the doubters wrong.

For Ten Hag to find his own version of the Champions League winning playmaker in the form of Amrabat could then represent something of a coup, with the 6 foot 1 gem also offering the benefit of having an added edge to his game, having been branded "a raging bull" by Moroccan journalist, Amine El Amri.

With Jorginho having made a success of himself in the Premier League, perhaps the 49-cap ace can too.

Josko Gvardiol Latest: Man United Make Offer

Manchester United have reportedly made an offer to sign RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.

What’s the latest Man United transfer news?

Erik ten Hag has already added to his squad this summer ahead of his second season in charge at Old Trafford. Mason Mount was the first through the door from Chelsea, and the midfielder has been joined by Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana. Deals for the two have cost Old Trafford officials in the region of £100m, but it looks as if the club will continue to splash the cash.

A move for Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund is now advancing, with Fabrizio Romano saying on Saturday that an agreement worth €70m had been reached.

“Rasmus Hojlund to Manchester United, here we go! Agreement reached right now with Atalanta.

“Package will be around €70m with add ons, clubs preparing documents in the next 24 hours. Hojlund agreed 5 year deal ten days ago as he only wanted Manchester United.”

However, alongside Hojlund, a move for Gvardiol could also be on the cards, despite previous speculation that he was extremely close to signing for neighbours Manchester City.

According to one Spanish report in the last 48 hours, relayed by Paisley Gates, three more Premier League clubs are interested in signing Gvardiol alongside Man City.

It is believed that Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool have all submitted offers for the defender, who they see as a valuable asset. RB Leipzig want €100m (£86m) for Gvardiol, but it is claimed that City are still the favourites to sign the centre-back.

RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.

How good is Josko Gvardiol?

Gvardiol has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past two years, with his Transfermarkt valuation rocketing from €16m to a career-high €75m.

Still only 21 years of age, there appears to be room to improve even further, and pundit Owen Hargreaves believes that Gvardiol will be "the best centre-back in the world one day” following a performance against Man City last season.

"He [Gvardiol], I think, is an absolute top one. I think he’ll be the best centre-back in the world one day. He’s learned a lot today, and probably wouldn’t mind playing in a team like this rather than against them."

Hailed as a “gladiator” by journalist Ryan Taylor during the World Cup in Qatar, Gvardiol has made 87 appearances for Leipzig after leaving Dinamo Zagreb in 2021 and is primarily a centre-back but can also turn out as a left-back, showing he would even offer versatility to Ten Hag’s backline.

You can see why United may well be in the market for a new defender as well, with speculation emerging over Harry Maguire’s future at Old Trafford. The Red Devils have already turned down an offer from West Ham for the centre-back, but if he does eventually move on, a replacement to rival the likes of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane could be needed, especially with Champions League football back at Old Trafford.

Gvardiol would do just that, however, with three Premier League rivals to beat in the race for the defender, a transfer could prove tricky to complete.

"Massive" Disagreement’s Over Transfer Policy At West Ham

West Ham United manager David Moyes and Technical director Tim Steidten have a "massive difference of opinion" on which striker should replace Gianluca Scamacca this summer, with the former favouring Divock Origi and the latter Elye Wahi, per transfer insider Graeme Baily.

Are West Ham United signing a striker this summer?

The Hammers have had something of an underwhelming transfer window so far this summer. After selling their talismanic club captain Declan Rice to Arsenal for £105m, there was an expectation that they would start to splash the cash to replace his output – so far, this hasn't happened.

It's not all doom and gloom, however, as the side does look set to complete the £35m signing of Mexico international and Ajax star Edson Alvarez in the coming days, a player that is sure to improve their depleted midfield substantially for the coming season.

That said, the sale of Italian striker Scamacca to Serie A side Atalanta means that the East Londoners are going to need to sign another forward option before the window slams shut on September 1st, but there is a significant "difference of opinion" on who the club should target as their new number nine, per Graeme Bailey.

Read the latest West Ham United transfer news HERE…

He explained the situation on the Talking Transfers podcast, saying:

Gianluca Scamacca

"We've seen Scamacca go, but there's a massive difference of opinion between which striker should come in. Elye Wahi is the option for Tim Steidten from Montpellier, who most West Ham fans would love to come in. One of the best young strikers in Europe.

"But our understanding is that David Moyes quite likes Divok Origi, the former Liverpool striker at AC Milan and that just sums up the two camps perfectly."

Which striker should West Ham sign?

There is no doubt that with Scamacca on his way out of the club, the Irons need to make sure that they sign at least one forward before September, regardless of which one they pick to avoid being perilously under equipped in that area, but which one of the two would be the better option?

Well, when it comes to comparing their performances last year, there is really no competition at all. The Montpellier man had an outstanding campaign for the Ligue 1 outfit, and in his 33 league appearances, he scored 19 goals, provided five assists and maintained an average match rating of 6.87, per WhoScored.

On the other hand, the Belgian managed to score just two goals, provided one assist and averaged a somewhat underwhelming match rating of 6.32 across his 27 Serie A appearances, also per WhoScored.

Divock-Origi-AC-Milan

Comparing the pair directly using FBref only makes it more apparent that Wahi is the superior striker, with the "powerful" youngster creating 0.44 expected goals per 90 compared to the former Liverpool man's paltry 0.18.

One area the £84,000-a-week man beats out the French under-21s star is in shots per 90, registering 2.54 to his 2.22. However, even that is misleading as it's the 19-year-old who registers more shots on target at 1.29 per 90 to the 28-year-old's 1.05.

Ultimately, if it comes to picking one of these two strikers to lead the line for West Ham for the foreseeable future, it would be a seriously poor decision to opt for Origi, regardless of the big games he has helped the Reds win over the years.

Tottenham: Ange Green-Lights "Interesting" Spurs Signing

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has "validated the profile" of Gent striker Gift Orban with Spurs now "in contact" to sign him.

Who else will Spurs sign?

Spurs have completed a plethora of transfer deals for Postecoglou as chairman Daniel Levy attempts to back his new head coach.

Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, youngster Ashley Phillips, defender Micky van de Ven, playmaker James Maddison, winger Manor Solomon and striker Alejo Veliz have all now officially joined the north London club, but there may well be more soon.

Postecoglou, speaking to the press last night after Tottenham's entertaining friendly against Barcelona in Catalonia, claimed there may well be another defensive addition if the club can sort more outgoings.

"We've to see what happens with outgoings," explained the Spurs boss.

"But the potential is there to bring in one more centre back after van de Ven"

Read the latest Tottenham transfer news HERE…

The north Londoners may also sign a new midfielder, as Spurs regular Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is still attracting serious interest from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid.

Amid all of the noise surrounding Harry Kane's future, as Bayern prepare to mount yet another attempt to prise him away from Spurs, the club have been looking at possible forward options as well.

Orban, who finished the 22/23 season in electric form, is one attacker who's been linked with a move to Tottenham and journalist Sacha Tavolieri has an interesting update.

The reporter believes Spurs are now in contact over a deal for the Nigeria international, with Postecoglou giving the green-light after he "validated the profile" of Orban.

Tottenham have held verbal discussions with Gent for the player, where they have apparently disclosed their intent to go as high as €30 million (£26m), including bonuses.

Gift Orban

"Tottenham in contact with KAA Gent for Gift Orban!," wrote Tavolieri on X.

"Spurs could go as high as €30M (including bonuses) according to the latest oral discussions undertaken with their Belgian counterparts.

The profile of the Nigerian striker has been validated by Ange Postecoglou. The green light to send the written offer is obviously linked to the Harry Kane affair. The English are anticipating the market by paying €30m in 2023 than have to offer the double once Orban has exploded in an intermediate league… Wait&See."

How good is Gift Orban?

The wonderkid is a player of real quality, as displayed by his numbers for Gent last term, with Orban scoring 20 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions.

Orban has also been praised by members of the press as one of Nigeria's latest dazzling talents, as journalist Ryan Taylor points out.

Gift Orban, Victor Boniface & Tolu Arokodare. Remember these names," wrote Taylor.

"Making waves in Belgium & on European stage. Throw in Victor Osimhen & Terem Moffi – future looks very bright for Nigeria. Quickly approaching a golden generation for the Super Eagles."

Meanwhile, Sport 1 reporter Patrick Berger has branded Gent's star as one of Nigeria's "very interesting" crop of new players to have emerged in the last 12 months. Orban could be a promising capture for Spurs, especially given his sky high ceiling, for just £26m.

Liverpool: Reds Agree £60m Fee To Sign Romeo Lavia

Liverpool's search for a new midfielder in the summer transfer window has made significant progress since the failure to land Moises Caicedo, following an update from journalist Jacob Steinberg.

How old is Romeo Lavia?

The Reds' midfield has undergone a huge amount of surgery since the end of last season, now looking unrecognisable compared to several months ago.

Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have both left for Saudi Arabia in a couple of surprise exits, while James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also departed after their contracts expired. Meanwhile, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have come in from Brighton and RB Leipzig respectively, but it is clear that more signings are needed before the summer window reaches its conclusion.

Read the latest Liverpool transfer news HERE…

Lavia has arguably been linked with a move to Liverpool more than any other players this summer, and having missed out on Caicedo to Chelsea, he looks like the next-best option to bring in as the new No.6. It looks as though that could happen now, following an encouraging new update.

Will Liverpool sign Romeo Lavia?

Taking to Twitter, Steinberg claimed that Liverpool have agreed a £60m fee for the signing of Lavia, as the Reds are now on the verge of their third summer signing:

"Liverpool have agreed a £60m deal to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton. They must still convince the midfielder to choose them over Chelsea. More on @guardian_sport soon.

"Liverpool now the only club with an agreement with Southampton to sign Lavia. Chelsea will have to raise their bid."

This is great to hear from a Liverpool perspective, but it is also clear that Lavia hasn't yet decided who to join out of the Reds and Chelsea. The Caicedo saga is proof that supporters shouldn't get too excited until a move is officially announced, but it would be a surprise if the Southampton star opted for a move to Stamford Bridge, as reports have suggested he has already agreed personal terms at Anfield.

Playing time is surely going to be harder to come by there after the addition of Caicedo, while the west Londoners also don't have European football to offer this season, unlike the Merseysiders.

At 19, it is clear that Liverpool wouldn't be signing the finished article with Lavia, but he is a footballer already playing with a maturity well beyond his years, with his ability to avoid the press labelled "ridiculous" by Saints media members.

It is frustrating that Liverpool didn't simply act quicker and bid a cheaper £50m last week, however, signing him in time for Sunday's Premier League clash with Chelsea, which could have made all the difference. They appear to have been a little slow in their efforts and will end up spending £10m more than they needed to, if he does choose them over the Blues.

The most important thing is that the Reds acquire new signings as soon as possible, though, and if Lavia can come in very quickly and be available for Saturday's visit of Bournemouth in the league, it will stand Liverpool in good stead moving forward. Another midfielder and a left-sided centre-back also have to come in, in order to complete the ideal summer of spending at Anfield.

Fulham: Cottagers Eyeing Move For Left-Footed Forward

Following the departure of Aleksandar Mitrovic to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, Fulham have been left without a goal scorer, and could yet welcome more reinforcements before the end of the summer transfer window.

So far this summer, Marco Silva has welcomed three players, in the form of Adama Traore, Raul Jimenez, and Calvin Bassey. Now, they are reportedly eyeing a move for a forward.

What's the latest on Riccardo Orsolini to Fulham?

Fulham's search for a forward has taken them to Italy and Bologna forward Riccardo Orsolini, according to Calcio Mercato, who have reported that the Cottagers are eyeing a move for the striker, whose contract comes to an end next summer, with first contacts seemingly made over a possible transfer.

The Premier League side will have to act fast if they are to push on for a move, however, given that Lazio showed interest in Orsolini in July, and Fiorentina and Sassuolo are also keen on making a move this summer.

It remains to be seen just how much Bologna will demand for their forward, too. But, money should be no issue for Fulham, who recently received a reported £m for the departure of star man Mitrovic.

With the addition to their transfer funds, it appears as if they'll be an interesting club to keep an eye on late in the transfer window.

Should Fulham sign Riccardo Orsolini?

To say that replacing Mitrovic will be no easy task this summer would be an understatement, given that the Serbian found the back of the net a total of 14 times last season.

Orsolini, a left-footed winger and sponsored by Nike, would certainly represent a solid piece of business for those at Craven Cottage, however, with the forward scoring 11 goals in an impressive campaign for Bologna last season, whilst also assisting four goals to match Mitrovic's goal involvement.

When compared, too, the Italian even outperformed the former Fulham star in certain areas. As per FBref, Orsolini made more progressive passes, more progressive carries, and attempted more take-ons per 90.

So, whilst Mitrovic scored more goals last season, Orsolini would hand Fulham a different type of option; one that is perhaps more creative, and better at linking play.

Silva could benefit by welcoming the attacker, too, with his fluid play style suiting players who can link play well, and those who are more complete forwards.

Of course, it will be a difficult transition into life without Mitrovic, but signing Orsolini would go a long way in solving any issues that could arise without their star man. At 26, he may only get better with a move to the Premier League, too – potentially resulting in newfound stardom in the coming years of his prime.

Fulham initially got off to the perfect start by defeating Everton on the opening day of the Premier League season, but struggled without Mitrovic in their second game, suffering a 3-0 defeat against Brentford.

Eased past by the Bees, we got a first look at how important it is that the Cottagers get their next move right when it comes to replacing Mitrovic before the window slams shut. With Orsolini reportedly an option, it's certainly one to keep an eye on.
