The Feroz Shah Kotla ground in New Delhi has been reinstated as an international venue with effect from January 1, the ICC has said. This means it is formally cleared to host the four World Cup matches scheduled at the ground next year.The decision follows an inspection by Andy Atkinson, the ICC’s pitch consultant, who observed the pitch first-hand during a Ranji match between Delhi and Gujarat over the past week.The venue was suspended as an international ground following the abandonment of an ODI between India and Sri Lanka in December 2009, and has been under a process of repair monitored by the ICC. Dave Richardson, the ICC’s general manager, said it was pleased with the remedial work carried out and felt the playing surfaces were now back to the standard expected for international matches.The DDCA, to protect the pitch, has decided minimise cricket at the venue ahead of the World Cup, including shifting the next two scheduled Ranji matches out of the Kotla. “We want to keep the wicket in good shape, so [we thought] why not move the Ranji games to other grounds that are available,” Venkat Sundaram, the chairman of the BCCI’s grounds and wickets committee, told Cricinfo. “There are 12 days of cricket scheduled for this track before the World Cup and they can lead to a lot of wear and tear on the wicket, with players running onto it with spikes. “He also said the onset of winter meant the grass won’t grow very quickly, so it would be better to let the turf settle rather than have a lot of cricket on it before the World Cup.The last international played at the Kotla, on December 27 2009, was abandoned after 23.3 overs after the match officials decided the pitch was of “extremely variable bounce and too dangerous for further play”. The immediate fallout of the fiasco was the sacking of the BCCI’s grounds and wickets committee, followed by the resignation of their Delhi counterparts.

Celtic’s title party at Parkhead was delayed as they were held to a 1-1 draw by their rivals in the Premiership on Sunday.

Ange Postecoglou’s men were wasteful in front of goal as they missed numerous opportunities to take the game away from the opposition.

Jota gave the Hoops the lead as he snuck in ahead of Borna Barisic at the back post to tuck in a cross from Daizen Maeda, but they failed to build on their advantage.

Maeda went on to miss two glorious chances to make it 2-0 and Jota also spurned a good opening as he sent a header flying over the bar.

They were then punished for their lack of a clinical edge as Fashion Sakala rifled in an equaliser for Rangers with a terrific strike past Joe Hart.

Whilst the likes of Jota, Carl Starfelt and Callum McGregor impressed for the home side, there were some poor performers for Celtic. One player who was a passenger throughout the game was Japan international Kyogo Furuhashi.

The attacker, who only recently returned from injury, was nowhere near good enough as he struggled to make a positive impact for the Hoops on and off the ball.

Out of possession, he was a lightweight. As per SofaScore, he lost four of his six individual duels and made just one tackle, whilst failing to make a single clearance, interception or block. Of course, he was not expected to be winning the ball back consistently from the number nine position but he did not put himself about enough to cut out Rangers attacks.

His weak play off the ball was coupled with his lack of involvement on it. Via SofaScore, he had fewer touches (15) than Joe Hart (52) and completed just four passes in 61 minutes – one every 15 minutes, roughly, of game time. He came off with a pass success rate of 40% and he also failed to register a single key pass or shot on target, showing that he made virtually no impact at the top end of the pitch.

These dreadful statistics show that he was a passenger for Postecoglou, who was right to take him off on the hour mark, and Kyogo will surely be disappointed with his own display.

Hopefully, he will be able to shake off this display and have a strong end to the season so that he can head into the summer on a high.

ويلاقي منتخب فرنسا نظيره إنجلترا يوم السبت المقبل في ربع نهائي كأس العالم قطر 2022.

وسُئل أوباميكانو عن خطته لإيقاف الثلاثي الإنجليزي هاري كين وبيلينجهام وفودين، ونشرت صحيفة “ليكيب” الفرنسية تصريحاته.

قال أوباميكانو: “قبل كل شيء، سنقوم بإعداد خطة ضد إنجلترا، هم لاعبون من الطراز العالمي، كل اللاعبين يريدون اللعب في ربع نهائي كأس العالم، هذا لا يُمنح للجميع”.

وأضاف: “أنا فخور، لكن الأمر لم ينته، لم يعطنا هوجو (لوريس) بعد تعليمات بشأن هاري كين (كونهم زملاء في توتنهام)، لكننا سنتحدث بالتأكيد”.

واستطرد أوباميكانو: “سنقوم برؤية فيديو، لذلك لدينا الوقت للحديث عنه بعد ذلك، ما زلت أعرفه، أعرف أنه مهاجم يأتي للحصول على الكرات”.

Shoaib Malik, the Pakistan allrounder, has said he was not given any reason for his omission from Pakistan’s 30 probables for the 2011 World Cup. Malik, a former Pakistan captain, had been under the scanner of the PCB’s integrity committee along with wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal and legspinner Danish Kaneria. None of the three players has played for Pakistan since their controversial tour of England in July.Pakistan had delayed the announcement of their 30-man squad till January 5 to give the three players a chance to provide evidence to clear them for selection, but only Kamran was included in the list for the tournament that starts on February 19.”It’s tough to pacify yourself when you are not given a reason for your omission,” Malik said. “Cricket teaches you discipline, so with discipline and determination I will strive to get my place back. It’s a great honour to play in the World Cup but I will not allow my confidence level to dip and will continue to perform at the domestic level.” He has scored 725 runs at an average of 120.83 in Division One of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Pakistan’s premier first-class competition, this season.Kamran, meanwhile, expressed his delight at his inclusion among the probables. “I have always played cricket the right way and when the PCB asked me to appear before the committee I complied and I am happy that they have included me in the preliminary squad.” Kamran told .Kamran, Malik and Kaneria had been asked to appear before the integrity committee and provide details of their bank accounts, assets and property holdings from the last three years, to clear their names from possible involvement in spot-fixing.The PCB did not make it clear which of the players had been cleared. “There is a lot of speculation in the media regarding clearance or otherwise of players by the integrity committee of the PCB,” Pakistan’s chief selector Mohsin Khan said. “The integrity committee has given its views on some players to the selection committee which has taken into consideration that input and has selected the 30 players for the World Cup.”Kamran had received an ACSU notice earlier in the year regarding events during the World Twenty20 in the Caribbean but has since asked for and received a written clearance from the ICC. He had also been named by alleged bookmaker Mazhar Majeed on Pakistan channel as among seven players obeying his orders during matches. He has scored 767 runs in the Quaid-e-Azam Division One this season, including a career-best 268.The trio of Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif, who faced an ICC tribunal in Doha on Thursday over spot-fixing allegations, were not in the 30 World Cup probables. Kamran said Pakistan could win the tournament despite their absence. “We have to play with the available players and I am sure that if we play to our potential we can win the World Cup,” he said.
