Auckland completed a comprehensive defeat of Wellington to reach third place on the HRV Cup points table. Wellington’s third defeat in the competition has now left them at fifth place on the points table.Central Districts fought hard to overcome Canterbury in Timaru to record their fourth win of the competition and take first place on the points table. Chasing a competitive 163 for victory, CD were led home through half-centuries from Matthew Sinclair and Ross Taylor, who were involved in a decisive 88-run stand after the first two wickets were lost for 37. Sinclair remained unbeaten on 54, but Taylor’s attacking 53, off just 27 balls, ensured CD were well ahead of the required run-rate. It ensured victory was sealed with an over to spare.Canterbury’s batting effort had been a collective one with the middle order, led by Peter Fulton (43), Shanan Stewart (35) and Johann Myburgh (28), helping them reach a fighting score. Graham Napier, however, grabbed two wickets to ensure the target remained a gettable one.

O depoimento desta sexta-feira dado pelo argentino Alejandro Burzaco, ex-CEO da empresa Torneos y Competencias, veio a calhar para a defesa de José Maria Marin, um dos réus no processo que tramita na Justiça dos Estados Unidos a respeito do esquema de recebimento de propina por parte de dirigentes do futebol sul-americano na negociação dos direitos de transmissão das competições do continentes.

Segundo Burzaco, que já admitiu culpa e colabora com a Justiça, Marco Polo Del Nero, que era vice na gestão Marin, era quem realmente tomava as decisões. O então presidente, por outro lado, “era encarregado dos discursos”, segundo o delator, que ainda classificou a dupla de cartolas como “irmãos siameses”, já que eram inseparáveis.

A versão de Burzaco agrada a defesa de Marin porque a estratégia adotada desde o primeiro dia de julgamento era dizer que o ex-dirigente, preso desde maio de 2015, assumiu o poder por acaso e apenas dava espaço para a atuação política de Del Nero.

A acusação de Burzaco durante a semana, no entanto, dá conta de que Marin e Del Nero negociaram juntos o recebimento de propina, herdando o esquema que já funcionava com Ricardo Teixeira. A diferença foi que Teixeira, segundo o delator, ganhava US$ 600 mil. E a dupla sucessora, que dividia a propina, passou a solicitar US$ 900 mil.

Em nota publicada pela CBF nesta semana, Marco Polo Del Nero se disse indignado com as acusações de Burzaco e negou saber da existência de qualquer esquema. A nota de Del Nero ainda ressalta que os contratos não foram assinados por ele e não eram do período em que passou a gerir a CBF.

كشف بيب جوارديولا، المدير الفني لفريق مانشستر سيتي عن حالة لاعبيه المصابين قبل الديربي أمام مانشستر يونايتد.

ويستقبل مانشستر سيتي جاره مانشستر يونايتد على ملعب “الاتحاد” يوم الأحد المقبل في منافسات الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

وأوضح بيب آخر التطورات بشأن جون ستونز وإيمرليك لابورت وكالفين فيليبس، وذلك خلال مؤتمره الصحفي اليوم الجمعة، وقد نشر موقع مانشستر سيتي الرسمي وشبكة مانشستر إيفينينج نيوز، تصريحاته خلال المؤتمر.

قال جوارديولا عن جون ستونز ولابورت: “ستونز مصاب، وسيعود عندما يكون جاهزًا (إصابته في الأوتار)، بينما لابورت يتدرب بشكل جيد، منفردًا، ولكن أمس واليوم يشعر شعور إيجابي، إصابة طويلة، المهم في التدريب أنه يتحرك بشكل جيد، والقدرة مع التمريرة استثنائية، من المهم أن يعود في هذا الجدول الزمني المجنون، بالنسبة له كذلك”.

جوارديولا أضاف عن كالفن فيليبس: “جراحته كانت جيدة، وهو يتحسن، لقد أخذ القرار الصحيح وإلا كان لن يتمكن من التقدم للأمام، آمل أن يعود في الوقت المناسب للذهاب إلى كأس العالم وبعد ذلك يعود معنا”.

واستطرد الإسباني: “أما ستونز، فلن يغيب لمدة 4 أو 5 أو 6 أسابيع، ستكون أقل من ذلك، لا أعرف متى سيعود ولكن أعتقد بعد 10 أيام أو أسبوعين”.

وعن إعادة اللاعبين قبل التعافي، أفاد جوارديولا: “الأمر مختلف، لم يكن لدينا خيار آخر الموسم الماضي، كان لدينا فرناندينيو لمساعدتنا، إذا قررنا اللعب مع  لابورت، سنفعل ذلك، لكن ليس علينا الاستعجال، لدينا ناثان أكي وروبن دياز ومانويل أكانجي”.

That’s according to a claim by Pete O’Rourke, who revealed in a recent interview with GIVEMESPORT that David Moyes will be considering a move for the Everton left-back this month, as the 58-year-old Hammers boss is looking to bring in greater depth behind the injured Aaron Cresswell.

In relation to West Ham’s potential interest in Digne, O’Rourke said: “I’m sure they’ll be looking at him if they are looking for a left-back. I know in the summer, they tried to get a left-back to provide cover to Cresswell. Obviously, that need is heightened even more now with Cresswell’s injury.”

Considering just how impressive Digne has been for Everton in recent seasons, the news that West Ham will be considering the possibility of making a move for the France international this January is sure to have left the London Stadium faithful buzzing.

Indeed, over his 30 Premier League appearances last time out, the £27m-rated defender was in remarkable form for the Toffees, helping his side keep nine clean sheets, registering seven assists and creating a whopping 11 big chances for his teammates, as well as making an average of 1.6 key passes per game.

The 28-year-old also impressed in metrics more typical of his position, making an average of one interception, 2.1 tackles, 2.4 clearances and winning 6.5 duels per fixture.

These returns saw the £119k-per-week Frenchman earn an astonishing seasonal SofaScore match rating of 7.13, ranking him as Everton’s second-best performer in the top flight of English football.

Furthermore, with Digne and Rafael Benitez’s relationship believed to have broken down, it has been reported that the Toffees manager would be willing to part with the left-back in the current transfer window, as long as an offer of around £25m is lodged.

As such, not only would the former Barcelona defender make an excellent addition to Aaron Cresswell on the left of Moyes’ backline at West Ham, a deal for the 43-capped international would also appear to be one that the Hammers board could easily afford – something of a win-win situation for the East London side.

Flocking to Twitter, many Liverpool fans have erupted following an update on their pursuit of Villarreal star attacker Arnaut Danjuma.

Jurgen Klopp’s side, aiming to catch up Premier League leaders Manchester City who are currently 11 points ahead of them in the title race, are reportedly contemplating January additions as the winter window opens.

Indeed, the Reds are currently without star men Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah going forward as they make their way to compete in the Africa Cup of Nations this month – leaving Liverpool short in the attacking department.

As such, the club, Klopp and FSG have apparently set their sights on La Liga winger Danjuma as Fichajes share a development out of Anfield.

According to the Spanish news source, Liverpool ‘want to close’ his signing ‘as soon as possible’ and even have a ‘first offer ready’ to tempt Villarreal into a January sale.

It is believed this bid amounts to around €45 million (£37.5m) as the club aim to back Klopp in bringing the German’s ‘new wish’ for the winter market.

Flocking to this ‘exciting’ claim, many Reds have been left talking on Twitter – and it’s not hard to see why going by the player’s stats this season.

According to WhoScored, Danjuma has averaged an impressive three shots at goal per 90 over his league appearances so far over 2021/2022 – with only Salah and Mane making more attempts when compared to Liverpool’s current crop.

Taking this into account, it’s little wonder many supporters believe he could be a stellar addition.

However, some Liverpool fans believe the price could be a bit ‘expensive’ whilst others think they should have got Danjuma in the last summer window.

90min reporter Graeme Bailey has claimed that the Magpies are closing in on the signing of the attacker and compared him to a PSG star.

He Tweeted: “Can reveal that Newcastle United are in advanced talks to sign Reims’ Hugo Ekitike for £30m. Outstanding talent – huge signing for Newcastle if they get it done, many in France believe he could be the next Mbappe.”

Huge coup

The Magpies could land a “huge” coup by signing Ekitike from Reims this month as he is a talented player with immense potential. Being touted as the “next Mbappe” is some compliment given what his fellow countryman has already achieved at such a young age.

Mbappe has won the World Cup with France and scored 150 goals in 197 matches for PSG, whilst also providing 76 assists for the French giants. He is also valued by Transfermarkt at a whopping £144m, having reportedly been signed from Monaco for £165.7m in 2017.

Ekitike has scored eight goals and provided two assists in just ten Ligue 1 starts for Reims this season in his first full year at senior level. Mbappe’s first season of starting more than five league matches in his career ended with 15 goals and eight assists in 17 starts for PSG, with the Reims man on course for 16 goals and four assists in 20 starts if he matches his form from the first half of campaign.

If the 19-year-old can go on to achieve even half of what Mbappe has managed in his career then he could be a sizeable coup for the Magpies and improve their team in the short and long-term. He has already shown that he can score goals in a top-five league, which suggests that he could make an impact in the Premier League this season. Furthermore, he holds the potential to massively increase his value further down the line.

Therefore, this could be a fantastic piece of business by the club, one that shows they are not only looking at stop gaps and short-term solutions to problems. They are seemingly looking to build Eddie Howe a team for the future as well as the present and Etitike, on paper at least, appears to be a great first step to doing that.

Cricinfo staff05-Feb-2010Gul Hameed Bhatti, a leading sports journalist, editor and cricket statistician, passed away late on February 4 after a prolonged illness at the age of 63.Bhatti was widely respected and acknowledged in Pakistan and outside as the leading cricket statistician in the country, though his writings and research extended into a number of other sports and fields. Alongside Abid Ali Kazi and the late Nauman Badar, Bhatti launched an association for cricket statisticians in Pakistan, which was responsible for a number of publications. He had built and was maintaining what is thought to be the most comprehensive database on domestic cricket and cricketers within Pakistan.Bhatti had a long, accomplished and fruitful career in sports journalism. It began with (Pakistan) in the early 70s, when the magazine had just come out. Bhatti was in charge initially of sending in reports from the Lahore club scene, but soon took over to oversee a number of editorial areas and eventually was the man responsible for bringing out the magazine every month.He became Sports Editor of the in 1990 and was one of the key founding members of the newspaper, the English voice of the influential Jang media group. At one point, in the mid-90s, he even became editor of the paper, but returned soon after to his first love of sports, and was Group sports editor, until his illness.
