أكد مصدر مسئول داخل اتحاد كرة اليد، أن الاتحاد لم يناقش أمر تأجيل مباراة القمة بين الأهلي والزمالك في ختام منافسات دوري المحترفين لكرة اليد.

ويواجه نادي الزمالك نظيره الأهلي في إطار منافسات الجولة الرابعة عشر من مرحلة التتويج بدوري المحترفين لكرة اليد، يوم الجمعة المقبل.

وقال المصدر لـ بطولات: “لم يتم مناقشة تأجيل مباراة الأهلي والزمالك في الجولة الأخيرة بدوري المحترفين لكرة اليد”.

وتابع: “المباراة حتى الآن في موعدها، ويتم الترتيب لها مع الجهات الأمنية، من أجل الاستقرار النهائي على مكان إقامتها”.

وواصل: “إصابات كورونا للاعبي الأهلي أو الإصابات داخل الزمالك لن تمنع إقامة المباراة الفاصلة والتي سيتم على إثرها تحديد بطل دوري المحترفين للموسم الجاري بنسبة كبيرة”.

يذكر أن الأهلي والزمالك يتصدران صراع دوري المحترفين لكرة اليد برصيد 37 نقطة لكل فريق، ومتبقي لهما مواجهتين.

A few eyebrows were raised when Marcelo Bielsa was given the FIFA Fair Play award last month.

The Leeds United manager has come under fire from his peers for his supposed unsporting conduct when Spygate occurred, and the club was consequently handed a £200,000 fine for the incident, which Bielsa paid off himself.

However, when you look at it closely, it has to be said that the 64-year-old was a worthy recipient of the Fair Play award, and his comments in the media this week back that up even further.

The Argentine spoke about the attitude that he tries to instil in his players.

“I always say to the players that we have to avoid fouling, try to accept all the decisions or mistakes of the referees, even if we think it is good or bad,” he said.

“They have to let the referee decide as he interprets the situation. We have to adapt to the referee’s decision. We don’t have to talk with the opponent or show bad behaviour away from the play.”

The former Chile manager seemingly wants the beautiful game to stay beautiful, and he wants his players to respect the referee’s decision whether they agree with it or not.

This just shows the type of manager Bielsa is. He has the utmost respect for the sport, and the last thing he’d want is to ruin proceedings due to a lack of sportsmanship from some of his players.

Spygate was a rare anomaly but just look at how he reacted when Pontus Jansson attempted to stop Aston Villa from scoring last season.

He wasn’t knowingly bending the rules by what happened with Derby last term and he held his hands up and explained that he was unaware of the culture. The fact that he’s now said this shows that he more than deserved his Fair Play award.

We’re 11 years on from the introduction of the Respect Campaign from the FA, and some managers in the British game seemingly still don’t get it.

Therefore, for a man who has been managing in England for just over a year to immediately try to instil this type of attitude into his players is brilliant to see, and hopefully, these comments resonate with managers at all levels – from the Premier League all the way down to grassroots.

Long gone are the days of Don Revie’s ‘Dirty Leeds’ where the wider footballing community hated the Whites due to their underhanded tactics.

While that crop of stars may have ignored Brian Clough’s instructions to throw all their medals in the bin due to their questionable style, this new generation seem to be well on board with Bielsa’s fair play mantra as they rank 18th in the Championship discipline table.

A selection of Newcastle United fans have been slamming Shola Ameobi for his role as Loan Coordinator following reports by the Chronicle that Elias Sorensen could be recalled.

Sorensen joined League Two side Carlisle United on a one-season loan deal this summer, but has been resigned to one start from a possible 14 in the fourth-tier and has played just 32 minutes in the Cumbrians’ last six league games.

Newcastle Under 23s boss Neil Redfearn has admitted concern at the 20-year-old’s back-up role while out on loan, as the Magpies were keen to see Sorensen play regular minutes.

“I know I have said on the record in the past that he needs to fight it out, but obviously the idea of him going out on loan is that he plays,” Redfearn said.

“So if he’s on the bench and not coming on, it’s not what we want, it’s not what we need.

“The reports that we are getting back are that he’s working really hard and desperately trying to do the right things to get in so we are getting that, but there is no getting away from the fact he needs to play.”

Newcastle hold an option to recall Sorensen in January, and Redfearn added that the Toon will be reviewing the Denmark youth international’s situation.

Magpies Loan Coordinator Ameobi will decide Sorensen’s uncertain future at Brunton Park come the New Year.

Ameobi was appointed to his position at St. James’ Park this summer as United sought to shake-up the coaching line-up in their academy.

JACK HARRISON

Leeds United winger Jack Harrison, now in the second year of his loan spell at Elland Road, endured a frustrating afternoon in a goalless Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday.

The stalemate saw a run of three assists in as many games come to an end for the 22-year-old, who has started every one of the Whites’ league games under Marcelo Bielsa this season.

He seems to be an important part of the squad, as he looks to make a name for himself having never featured for Manchester City.

TOSIN ADARABIOYO

Tosin Adarabioyo has forced his way into the starting lineup at Blackburn Rovers, and started his third game in succession at the centre of the Rovers defence this weekend.

He was powerless to prevent Preston coming from two goals down to win 3-2 on Saturday, but will surely be encouraged by the newfound faith being shown in him after this run of games.

Blackburn have not fared too well of late, however, and are without a win in six – with Adarabioyo featuring in just a single victory this season, which came against Millwall back in September.

PEDRO PORRO

Youngster Pedro Porro, who is spending time on loan at La Liga outfit Real Valladolid, earned his first start for over a month after featuring at the Nou Camp on Tuesday night.

The 20-year-old, who signed from Girona in the summer, was on the receiving end of a typical Lionel Messi masterclass as his double helped Barcelona trounce his side 5-1 on a chastening evening.

However, Porro can perhaps take heart from his reintroduction to the first team after being limited to substitute appearances at best over the last few weeks.

It seems as though the Championship is no more forgiving a league than Spain’s La Liga, with all three of City’s loanees featured here going without a victory in their most recent outings.

However, the fact that match action is being afforded to the players in question is a positive sign as they seek to develop away from the Etihad Stadium.

That could mean the significance of results take a back seat for those on loan in particular, though it is clear that despite the minutes, it has been a tough week to endure on the pitch for these players.

Jamaal Lascelles has praised Newcastle’s attackers and believes that it won’t be long until they are playing to the best of their abilities.

What did he say?

Although they have shown what they have to offer in glimpses, so far each of the front-three is yet to get firing this season, with just one goal and one assist between Joelinton, Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin.

Despite that, they are apparently impressing in training, and have certainly persuaded their skipper that they have the quality to take Newcastle up the table.

Currently, it would be understandable if the pressure of a lack of goals is getting to them, particuarly Almiron who appears to be low on confidence, but according to Lascelles they are ready to start delivering.

Speaking to Sky Sports News [06/11], as reported by HITC, he said:

“I think once one of them gets that goal, it’ll just break the ice and then they can start expressing themselves more.

“The three of them are always banging in goals, left, right and centre in training. They like to express themselves, so I just think it’s about getting past that first hurdle.

“You have always got the big man Andy [Carroll] on the bench. When Dwight’s back fully fit, we have an exciting team and I think we are in a good position now.”

Attack coming together

All three of Newcastle’s forwards have shown signs that they can be effective for Steve Bruce this season, and so far their lack of productivity has been down to bad luck and poor decision-making.

Saint-Maximin displayed that against the Hammers last week, deciding to pass across goal rather than finish the chance himself, and if he can work on that in training, with his manager’s guidance, he should begin adding goals to his game.

Bruce’s tactics of using the pace of his wingers to run in behind the defence has created numerous chances for his side this term, with the long-range passing ability of Jonjo Shelvey and Sean Longstaff often coming into effect.

The pair have managed three and 1.6 long balls per game respectively, and therefore it is likely just poor finishing letting down the front three.

According to Lascelles they have been prolific in training. That suggests it is only a matter of time before they find their feet in the Premier League, and the confidence boost they should experience upon finding the net for the first should be of huge benefit for the Toon.
