After dominating the headlines for much of the summer, Aston Villa are now reportedly leading the race to seal their biggest arrival yet in the form of a Premier League winner.

However, with less than one week left until the transfer deadline, they may not be done stealing the headlines on the incoming front. Recent reports have linked Villa with moves for the likes of Joe Gomez, who was left out of Liverpool's squad against Ipswich Town as he considers his Anfield future towards the end of the window.

Premier League winners seem to be the theme of the week too, with those in the Midlands seemingly setting their sights on a former Manchester City winger.

According to Alex Crook of talkSPORT, Aston Villa are now leading the race to sign Raheem Sterling, who has been cast aside at Chelsea following the arrival of new manager Enzo Maresca.

Crook told talkSPORT (via The Boot Room): "At the moment, they [Aston Villa] seem to be the clearest contenders if Raheem Sterling is to stay in the Premier League.

"My understanding is that Villa have held exploratory talks with Chelsea, but no direct talks with Sterling as yet. I think he has accepted what Maresca told him last Friday – the bombshell news that he wouldn’t be part of his plans. Sterling is now ready to leave Stamford Bridge and would ideally want to leave on a permanent transfer as opposed to a loan."

After losing Moussa Diaby earlier in the window, Emery could certainly do with another winger – and one more experienced than Philogene to step up in place of the Frenchman, which is where Sterling could come in.

Of course, his reported £325k-a-week salary may prove to be an obstacle in negotiations, but if Villa can find a way to convince the England international to take a pay cut, they could secure quite the deal.

A Premier League veteran these days, Sterling has picked up plenty of praise on his way to this stage, including from England boss Gareth Southgate who told BBC Sport during Euro 2020: "He is a fighter. He has got an incredible resilience and hunger. He has developed over the last couple of years this real hunger to score."

Now, it's Emery and Villa who could benefit from those qualities in pursuit of a player who would steal the headlines in the Midlands one last time. As they venture into the Champions League this season too, signing Sterling – an experienced player on that stage – could help cause plenty of upsets among Europe's best.

-Amanhã todo mundo vai falar que o Renato está dando desculpa porque não conseguiu vencer a partida. -Em momento algum, o goleiro procura a bola. É pênalti legítimo, e expulsão do goleiro. O VAR que tanto apita os jogos não chamou o árbitro. Depois, o Gabriel está na minha frente, eu vejo que não está impedido, eu grito para ele, que recebe a bola e parte. Deu o impedimento. Cadê o protocolo que uma criança de cinco anos sabe que tem que deixar a jogada terminar para depois o VAR revisar. Vejo muitos jogos em que o jogador está dez metros na frente, fácil de dar o impedimento, e não dão. Hoje, na pior das hipóteses, seria um impedimento duvidoso, e ela levantou a bandeirinha. Éo beabá de uma criança de cinco anos. Mas essas perguntas quem tem que responder sou eu.

-Por que não perguntam para o Gaciba (presidente da Comissão de Arbitragem da CBF)? A outra pergunta que eu queria fazer ao Gaciba. No jogo do Atlético-MG, um dos melhores árbitros do Brasil. Jogo do Palmeiras, um dos melhores. Jogo do Flamengo, arbitragem de Segunda Divisão. Gaciba precisa explicar isso.Bater no Renato é mole, né? Não podemos esquecer do Gaciba.

-Ele (Gaciba) não pode ficar escondido o tempo todo.Ele fala que o VAR tem 99% de acertos. Alguém está sendo bobo. Dizem que eu estou perseguindo ele, mas ele é o chefe. Com todo o respeito. Former Sri Lanka batter Avishka Gunawardene has been cleared of both existing corruption charges against him, and is free to participate in cricket immediately.Gunawardene had never directly been charged by the ICC, but in May 2019 had attracted two charges by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) over the 2017 iteration of the T10 tournament played in the UAE. These charges related, essentially, to soliciting or enticing a participant to breach anti-corruption regulations, and also failing to disclose any potential corruption or suspicious approach.Gunawardene, however, maintained his innocence. He was suspended from his coaching roles by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) as soon as the ECB charges were announced, with the SLC CEO stating that the board was unaware that Gunawardene was being investigated. Over the years, Gunawardene had become a highly reputed coach, for both the Sri Lanka A and Emerging teams, with many players crediting him for having been a positive influence over their careers.Also dropped are three of the four ECB charges against Nuwan Zoysa, though Zoysa remains banned for six years after being found guilty of separate charges by the ICC. Fulham have so far been busy over the summer transfer window, making five signings. With the transfer window open for around 24 hours, there is still time to see one more incoming at Craven Cottage. Marco Silva’s side have recently been linked with one attacker who could add quality in forward areas.

Fulham target Ligue 1 winger

The player in question here is exciting Lyon and Ghanaian international winger Ernest Nuamah. According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, the Cottagers have ‘approached’ Lyon over a move for the 20-year-old this summer.

However, they are not the only Premier League side who want to sign Nuamah before tomorrow’s deadline, with Everton also showing an interest in acquiring his services. Romano confirmed that ‘negotiations took place with both clubs’ within the last 24 hours over a potential move.

Why Nuamah would be a good signing

Despite being just 20 years of age, Nuamah is already quite experienced. He is already into his fourth season as a professional footballer and has 12 caps and three goals for the Black Stars at international level.

Last term, the enterprising winger played 39 games in all competitions, getting himself on the score sheet seven times and registering three assists. That included four goals and an assist in four outings for his previous club, Danish side Nordsjaelland, and three goals and two assists in 35 games for Lyon after he made the move to France last summer.

One of the Ghanian’s biggest strengths is his dribbling ability. He loves to get into one-vs-one situations with a defender and look to take them on. This is certainly reflected in his FBref stats. Per 90 minutes, the youngster attempts an average of 5.74 take-ons and completes 2.38 of those, on average, which ranks him in the top 16% and 19% of wingers across Europe.

The 20-year-old, who stands at around 5’8, has quick feet and natural pace and likes to cut inside on his left foot to find a shot or pass. However, he is not a one-trick pony, and has been known to beat a defender on the outside and get to the byline, finding a cross for a teammate. Per 90 minutes, the youngster plays 3.55 crosses on average.

This is certainly where Nuamah could become a dream winger for Fulham’s first-choice centre-forward, Muniz. The 23-year-old Brazilian is excellent in the air, averaging 4.28 aerial duels won per game as per FBref.

This is something that would certainly blend well with the number of crosses the Lyon winger gets into the box each game, and it could become a big method of finding the back of the net for the Cottagers. Last term, he scored two headers, so adding the crossing of Nuamah into the mix could make it an even more profitable way of scoring.

Football talent scout Jacek Kulig described the Lyon attacker as “outrageous”, and adding such a deadly and dynamic footballer to their squad could well elevate the Cottagers this season.

Should they get a deal for the Ghanaian over the line, it could be a catalyst for climbing the table this season.

ويتواجد أرسين فينجر، في القاهرة، اليوم الجمعة، يعقد مؤتمر صحفي في مقر الاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم، من أجل إطلاق شارة البدء لـ إطلاق مشروع المواهب في مصر تحت إشراف (فيفا)، وذلك بعد دعوة من رئيس الاتحاد المصري هاني أبو ريدة.

It’s safe to say that no Chelsea fan could’ve predicted the ridiculous spending that has taken place at Stamford Bridge over the past couple of years.

American Todd Boehly took over the reins from Roman Abramovich back in 2022, with the 50-year-old splashing the cash to try and improve the squad.

He’s spent over £1.1bn on new transfers, somehow avoiding any FFP and PSR breaches, and recruiting some excellent talents in the process.

The addition of Cole Palmer from Manchester City stands out as the best piece of business, with the 22-year-old registering 33 goal contributions in the Premier League last season – the most of any player in the division.

However, another talented youngster is yet to showcase his full potential in West London, with his time with the Blues plagued with various injury issues.

Roméo Lavia’s stats at Chelsea

After Southampton’s relegation to the Championship back in the 2022/23 season, Chelsea decided to raid the Saints for one of their star talents.

The Blues forked out a whopping £58m for the signing of midfielder Roméo Lavia – a huge figure for a 20-year-old who only made his Premier League debut during the relegation campaign a couple of years ago.

Since his big-money move to the Bridge, the Belgian has really struggled to maintain fitness, restricting him to just 32 minutes of football last season – coming in the 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace in December last year.

However, he’s already achieved more minutes this campaign, featuring for 66 minutes during the opening-day defeat against Champions Manchester City a couple of weeks ago.

Lavia desperately needs a consistent run of minutes if he is to reach his potential and provide any value for money, with his market value already taking a plunge as a result of his injury setbacks.

Ethan Ampadu joined Chelsea in a £2.5m deal from Exeter City after a tribunal, moving to London with huge potential after making his first-team debut at the age of just 15.

As a result of his impressive displays, the “unbelievable” Ampadu, as dubbed by teammate Dan James, has seen his market value soar – now worth in the region of £15.6m as per Football Transfers.

His subsequent value is higher than that of current first-team member Lavia, who is only valued at £12.6m a year on from his big-money transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Whilst undoubtedly there is a huge gap between the Championship and the Premier League, Ampadu has demonstrated that he has the ability to be a success in the top flight once again after impressing in England’s second tier last season.

The £7m fee the club sold him for now seems to be an absolute bargain, with the club potentially living to regret the transfer in the years ahead.

Ao falar sobre Gabriel, o treinador revelou que o jogador contou com suporte psicológico para poder ir a campo em boas condições emocionais para apresentar o melhor do seu futebol em campo. O comandante disse que o atleta vinha sofrendo com a avalanche de críticas que recebeu de vários torcedores que estavam satisfeitos com o futebol que ele vinha apresentando.

– Gabriel ficou chateado, triste, mas convivemos com isso, o atleta sabe, somos profissionais, precisamos conviver com algumas críticas. Quando foi me perguntado o limite da crítica, eu falei que todos os seres humanos sabem o limite da critica – ressaltou Sylvinho, em entrevista coletiva, na qual logo em seguida usou uma famosa expressão para lembrar que ele e os jogadores sempre estarão sujeitos a serem criticados pelos torcedores do clube.

– Somos vidraça, vamos continuar trabalhando. Nós trabalhamos esse atleta em nível humano para ele estar em campo. Feliz pelo resultado, pelo desempenho dele e pelo gol – completou o comandante alvinegro.

No decorrer deste Brasileirão, Gabriel viu a concorrência por um lugar no meio-campo do Corinthians aumentar principalmente depois da chegada de Renato Augusto, Giuliano e Willian, três reforços contratados para esta temporada. E recentemente o volante chegou a perder a titularidade para o colombiano Cantillo, que deu mais qualidade de passe ao time na saída de bola, mas que não possui a mesma força defensivado companheiro de equipe na marcação.

– Parte do trabalho é humano, buscamos alma, vida, e o Gabriel se entrega. Às vezes fico chateado quando vejo críticas pesadas a atletas com uma entrega como a do Gabriel. Todos os atletas têm limitações ou físicas ou técnicas ou táticas – analisou Sylvinho, elogiando em seguida o empenho mostrado pelo jogador para enfrentar os desafios que a temporada foi lhe proporcionando.

– Ele se doa demais. No primeiro turno (do Campeonato Brasileiro), jogou todinho numa linha um pouco à frente, quando Cantillo era titular e ele estava do lado no tripé. No segundo (turno), teve mudanças, veio jogar atrás, onde é a função dele. Ele tem o respeito dos atletas – reforçou o treinador.

‘VITÓRIA MUITO IMPORTANTE, ESSENCIAL’

Já ao comentar sobre o peso que essa vitória sobre o Santos teve para o Timão, Sylvinho destacou que a mesma foi fundamental para a continuidade do sucesso da equipe nesta reta final do Brasileirão. Além disso, ele elogiou o desempenho apresentado por todos os setores de sua equipe, que foi dominante diante do Santos durante todo o clássico deste domingo.

– Era muito importante, essencial, uma vitória para continuar pontuando. Todos os setores funcionaram bem, fico feliz com a organização do time. Mostramos um time organizado, uma defesa muito bem postada, um meio-campo que protege bem, atacante com funções defensivas, o contrário também, potencializando o time com posse no meio, com passagem de lateral. Fagner passou muito (no apoio ao ataque), Fábio Santos também aproveitou. O jogo nos propiciava essa retenção do Jô, enfim, muito bom – analisou o técnico.

PACIÊNCIA PARA BUSCAR A VITÓRIA

Outro ponto exaltado por Sylvinho na entrevista coletiva foi a paciência exibida pelo Corinthians para buscar a vitória, que só foi garantida com gols marcados no segundo tempo depois de a equipe não conseguiu aproveitar nenhuma das muitas oportunidades ofensivas que criou para abrir o placar em Itaquera.

– Tivemos paciência em casa, o gol demorou a sair, e isso quando ocorre você começa a acelerar demais, perder bolas na construção, e gera contra-ataque, pois falta confiança. Falamos isso no intervalo, os atletas entenderam e continuaram a atacar com equilíbrio, organização, ao ponto de fazer o gol, o segundo e se mostrarem superiores durante os 90 minutos – enfatizou o treinador, que agora vai preparar o Alvinegro para encarar o Ceará, na próxima quinta-feira, no Castelão, em Fortaleza, onde tentará encerrar um longo jejum fora de casa – a equipe acumula sete jogos sem vitórias como visitante.

وقال جوارديولا، في تصريحات نشرتها شبكة “بي بي بي سي” العالمية: “كان اليوم صعبًا وفي أوقات معينة سنحت لنا فرص، نخسر العديد من المباريات في نهايتها”.

وشدد: “الأمر يخصنا جميعًا (يقصد مسؤولية ما يحدث)، وليس اللاعبين فقط، ليس لدي مشكلة في قبول أن الأمر لا يسير بشكل جيد كما كان في الماضي، إنه أمر يخصنا نحن كلنا”.

واسترسل: “لقد لعبنا الكثير من الأشياء الجيدة، النتيجة هي ما عليه الأمر، يمكن أن تتحسن الأمور ودائمًا ما نمنح الإشادة للخصم والجودة التي يتمتعون بها”.
