Manchester United have endured a rather disappointing season up until the international break, winning just five of their 11 fixtures so far.
Erik ten Hag will certainly be feeling the heat, especially with the positivity surrounding the club dwindling following an initial solid debut campaign under the Dutchman where they finished third in the Premier League and won the EFL Cup – a first trophy success in six years.
Everything looked rosy, yet the Red Devils failed to land some top transfer targets – like Harry Kane – while the players he did sign haven’t exactly set Old Trafford alight as yet and things will need to come together swiftly otherwise Ten Hag may be out of a job.
The transfer window is fast approaching and the 53-year-old could potentially strengthen his ranks then, as United have been linked with 18-year-old, Arthur Vermeeren.
Who could Man Utd sign in January?
The Red Devils have shown interest in the young Belgian midfielder who is enjoying a meteoric rise to the top of the game.
Ten Hag faces some competition however, as Arsenal, Liverpool and Barcelona among others have also been keeping a close watch on the talented gem according to TEAMtalk.
The teenager is reportedly valued at just £15m by current club Royal Antwerp and this could prove to be a stunning bargain for whoever secures his signature.
Ten Hag will surely be looking to revamp his midfield options in the coming months, especially with the likes of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro the wrong side of 30 and Vermeeren could be an ideal heir to the Brazilian.
How good is Arthur Vermeeren?
The former Real Madrid midfielder is the only outfield player to feature in all 11 games for United this season, yet the 31-year-old won't be able to keep these performances up forever.
He currently ranks first in the squad for tackles per game (2.6) while also ranking 6th for accurate passes per game (44.5) and he is still clearly one of their finest midfielders.
Vermeeren has made a stunning impact in his homeland. The youngster has already made 49 senior appearances for Antwerp since the start of last season as he helped them secure a remarkable league title triumph.
He currently ranks fourth across the squad for accurate passes per game (51.8) while also ranking fifth for tackles (1.8), first for successful dribbles (1.3) and third for big chances created (two), indicating that he has been effective across a wide range of metrics in the heart of the Antwerp midfield and has the tools to step into Casemiro's shoes.
His teammate and compatriot, Toby Alderweireld, heaped praise on the sensation recently, saying: “He arrived in the team by force of circumstance, but since then he has learned very quickly.
“He reads the game very well, his potential is enormous. Have I seen this before? Rarely, I think.”
There is no doubt he will be on the move in the near future, especially judging by his immense impact in such a short space of time at the Belgian side.
Who will be the lucky club that sign him? United will certainly fancy their chances and Ten Hag could find a perfect heir for Casemiro in the process.

وأشار الاتحاد إلى أنه فى سبيل ذلك تم التنسيق مع الجهاز الطبي للنادي للاطمئنان على لاعبه.
وبذلك يستمر اللاعب مع باقي زملاءه بالمعسكر استعدادا للسفر لمدينة بوردو الفرنسية لتأدية المباريات الودية مع العراق وأوكرانيا استعدادا لانطلاق أولمبياد باريس.

Qual é a sua relação com Augusto Melo?
Conheço o Augusto Melo do próprio clube, pois sempre fomos assíduos frequentadores. Nos tornamos mais unidos quando ele entregou seu cargo nas categorias de base, que de certa forma, foi como havia ocorrido comigo tempos atrás. Nossa relação se prolongou também, dentro do próprio Conselho Deliberativo do clube.
De que forma essa parceria foi fechada? Como esse “trio” se uniu?
A parceria foi concretizada a partir do momento em que Augusto se lançou candidato, há mais de um ano. Entendi que era o momento de mudanças, com uma oposição a atual gestão, desgastada pelo próprio tempo.
Quanto ao Ricardo Maritan, meu convívio com ele foi debatendo ideias modernas e profissionais que deveriam ser implementadas no clube. Nossa parceria foi fechada quando Ricardo abriu mão de sua candidatura, para unir-se a Chapa Corinthians Mais Forte, e formamos o trio.
Qual é a principal ideia em comum desse grupo? Qual a proposta para o mandato que mais une vocês?
A implementação e criação do departamento de compliance*, a valorização do marketing na marca Corinthians, modernização do clube social e a ascensão do Corinthians entre os maiores times de futebol do mundo.
*De modo geral, o departamento de compliance buscaria agir conforme leis determinadas pelos órgãos regulamentadores, prevenindo tudo aquilo que possa trazer conflitos judiciais e prejuízos financeiros ao clube.

Qual é a sua relação com Augusto Melo?
Eu e Augusto nos conhecemos há muitos anos. Fomos eleitos conselheiros em 2012 e 2015 no “Chapão” e somos frequentadores assíduos do Parque São Jorge. Temos muitos amigos em comum, a paixão pelo Corinthians como norte e motivação para mudança que o atual cenário requer.
De que forma essa parceria foi fechada? Como esse “trio” se uniu?
Durante o processo eleitoral e de pré-inscrições das candidaturas, conversamos sobre a necessidade da união das chapas de oposição, como única forma viável de alternância de poder. Diante desse cenário, decidi não me inscrever ao pleito, retirando minha pré-candidatura à presidência. Decisão tomada justamente para não dividir os votos de oposição. Augusto, privilegiando as mulheres, inscreveu a Desembargadora Dra. Maria Tereza do Amaral como uma de suas vices. Infelizmente, por problemas estatutários, a doutora teve de ser substituída. A partir disso, surgiu o convite para compor a chapa. Até mesmo para prestigiar o fato de eu ter aberto mão da candidatura e fortalecer a oposição.
Qual é a principal ideia em comum desse grupo? Qual a proposta para o mandato que mais une vocês?
Prestigiar as mulheres, com a proposta de alteração Estatutária, para que elas tenham o direito de votar e serem votadas, tendo em vista que, pelas regras atuais, apenas os sócios titulares dos planos familiares têm esse direito (90% deles são homens). Democratizar o clube e equilibrar o colégio eleitoral com a maior participação feminina. Na chapa que coordeno (Resgata Corinthians), temos quatro mulheres candidatas. O clube saíra fortalecido com uma maior participação feminina.

Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, two of Australia’s premier quicks, will not be available for the Test series against Pakistan in October.Both men are undergoing rehabilitation for back injuries and, according to physiotherapist David Beakley, will not be able to recover in time to play the two-Test series in the UAE. “Pat and Josh are progressing well from their lumbar bone stress injuries but are not bowling, so, unfortunately, they will not be at the level required for Test match intensity come October.”Barring any setbacks, we are hopeful that Pat and Josh will return via the back-end of the JLT One-Day Cup, with the aim of them being available for the ODI series against South Africa in November as they build towards the India Test series,” Beakley said before offering better news for Australia and their chances in the upcoming season.”Mitchell Starc is back to unrestricted training and remains on track for the Test series against Pakistan.”All three quicks were a vital part of Australia’s most recent Test campaigns. Cummins and Hazlewood took part in every match of the Ashes in November 2017 and the subsequent tour of South Africa in March 2018, picking up 45 and 33 wickets respectively in nine Tests. Starc missed the Boxing Day Test against England due to a heel injury and then a stress fracture of the tibia kept him out of both the Johannesburg Test and the IPL. He has since returned to training in the off-season.Missing two of their big three fast bowlers does not appear to be a good news for Australia, who are not only looking to recover from the ball-tampering controversy that has followed over the past several months but also a poor record in Asia. In 24 Test matches over the last 10 years, they have won only three.With spots opening up, the reserve quicks Jackson Bird and Chadd Sayers and those who have done well in the Sheffield Shield, such as the top-wicket taker Chris Tremain (51), will be hopeful of making the trip to the UAE.
Glasgow Rangers face a different sort of challenge this evening as Philippe Clement takes charge of the Ibrox side for the first time in European competition.
A trip to the Czech Republic to face Sparta Prague will prove to be a slightly more difficult task than what Hibernian offered at Ibrox on the weekend, as the Easter Road outfit slumped to a 4-0 defeat.
The early signs certainly look positive from the Belgian and another win this evening will buy him more credit with the supporters as a new era in Glasgow has well and truly begun.
The 49-year-old could perhaps likely make some changes from the starting XI that took on Hibs just a few days ago and rotation will be key to keep the players fresh.
What is the Rangers team news vs Sparta Prague?
One problem the former Club Brugge boss has is who will start at left-back. Borna Barisic was substituted off during the early stages of the Hibs clash with what appeared to be a thigh problem, and he was replaced by Ridvan Yilmaz.
Due to Michael Beale’s incompetence, Yilmaz is not included in the Europa League squad, leaving the Gers extremely light in this area and this could prompt Clement into a reshuffle at the back.
He could perhaps slot Ben Davies into the left side of defence, and this will probably be the logical thing to do ahead of the vital tie.
There could also be changes to the attacking setup and despite Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers enjoying solid performances against Hibs, will Clement start the duo or give opportunities to others who are keen to shine?
How has Sam Lammers performed for Rangers this season?
Although positive on the weekend, Lammers has failed to really convince the Ibrox faithful that his £3m transfer fee is fully justified.
Since joining from Atalanta in the summer under Beale, the Dutchman has found the back of the net only once across 17 matches, yet this was to be expected considering the forward scored just six goals since the beginning of the 2020/21 season.
This isn’t due to a lack of trying as the forward currently ranks first for shots per game (3.2) across the whole squad in the Premiership, yet he ranks seventh for goals and assists (two) and third for big chances missed (three) during the opening nine games of the season.
This form suggests he has yet to make the desired impact at the Glasgow side and Sparta Prague will prove to be a much more difficult opponent to break down compared to Hibs, giving Clement the licence to ditch Lammers.
The question is, who could replace him in the starting XI? With Todd Cantwell returning from injury on the weekend, he could be ready for his first start since the Old Firm clash against Celtic at the start of September.
Could Todd Cantwell start against Sparta Prague?
After missing five matches due to a knee injury suffered against Celtic, Cantwell made his return on Saturday and his 32-minute cameo was an effective one.
The midfielder replaced Scott Wright with just over half an hour left and he not only grabbed an assist, but also made two key passes, took one shot on target, and completed 88% of his attempted passes.

It was a profitable return for the former Norwich City gem, and it may have opened a door for him to be unleashed from the first whistle against the Czech side.
How much did Todd Cantwell cost Rangers?
During Beale’s first transfer window in charge of the Light Blues, he managed to secure the signing of Cantwell from Norwich City for a fee believed to be around £1.5m and despite suffering a poor start to the season with the East Anglian side, it has proved to be a bargain so far for the Gers.
Gary Cockaday, his former youth coach, hailed him previously when discussing his talents as he made his way through to the first team at Norwich, saying: “At one point, two of them had Todd up against the line and you could see them thinking, ‘Gotcha!’
“Todd looked at one of them in the eye, put his toe under the ball, flicked it back over his head, turned and he was gone. All without looking at the ball.
“He did things every week that were just special. It was God-given. No one taught it. I always believed if you had someone like that, don’t change them or make them conform.”
His first few months at Ibrox were a major success as he finished the 2022/23 season having scored six times while registering five assists and his displays were one of the few bright sparks in a relatively poor season for the club.
The 25-year-old has yet to score so far this term, but this could be down to Beale’s lack of a proper tactical system rather than Cantwell’s ability suddenly diminishing.
Indeed, across the squad for his league displays, he currently ranks fifth for shots per game (1.8) along with ranking in the top five for interceptions per game (1.2) and while he has yet to hit the heights of last term, he could thrive under Clement.
A tie against Sparta will provide a perfect challenge for Cantwell, and he could certainly stake a claim to be a regular starter by putting on a solid performance.
Lammers has looked out of sorts since arriving in Scotland and although the Hibs tie indicated he could still have some sort of role under the Belgian, a European tie represents an ideal chance for him to rest a few players.
Cantwell may not be fit enough to last the full 90 minutes, yet his inclusion from the start could only benefit the Gers as they go chasing their second group stage win of the current season.

Australia’s selection panel has been formally shaved down to three members, with the new coach Justin Langer to take primary responsibility for the Twenty20 format after the resignation of Mark Waugh.Langer will act as “chair” in discussion around T20I squads, while the national selector Trevor Hohns and national talent manager Greg Chappell will be more focused on Tests and ODIs. أوضح وليد عبد الوهاب، رئيس هيئة استاد القاهرة، حقيقة ما تردد عن عدم إقامة مباراة الأهلي وبيراميدز القادمة في الاستاد، بسبب تصريحات مارسيل كولر المدير الفني للمارد الأحمر.
ومن المقرر أن يلتقي الأهلي مع بيراميدز يوم الجمعة المُقبل، الموافق 12 يوليو، في لقاء مؤجل من الأسبوع الرابع عشر من عمر المسابقة المحلية.
وكان مارسيل كولر قد انتقد أرضية ملعب مباراة استاد القاهرة، بعد مباراة طلائع الجيش، والتي فاز بها الأهلي بهدفين دون رد، وأكد المدرب السويسري على أن أرضية الملعب تتحول من السيئ للأسوأ كل فترة، وأن بها حُفر كثيرة، وأضاف ساخرًا: “لا أعرف أين المهندسين المسؤولين عن أرضية الملعب”، وهذه التصريحات أغضبت المسؤولين عن الاستاد.
وقال وليد عبد الوهاب في تصريحات عبر برنامج “اللعيب”، على قناة “mbc masr”: “أنا قلت إنني متعجب من توقيت تصريحات مارسيل كولر، المدير الفني للأهلي، وقلت لماذا لم يُرسل لي مع الكابتن خالد بيبو مدير الكرة بأن هناك مشكلة في الملعب”.
وتابع: “وقلت إننا أجلنا خطاب كان من المفترض أن نرسله لرابطة الأندية يوم 28 يونيو بغلق الملعب من أجل أعمال الصيانة وذلك بسبب ضغط المباريات، وتحدد الموعد الجديد لإرساله يوم 26 يوليو المقبل وليس 12 من نفس الشهر كما قيل”.

وأضاف: “سُئلت ماذا سيحدث في حالة إغلاق ملعب استاد القاهرة، قلت ستكون هناك بدائل، لأن لا بد أن تتم أعمال الصيانة للملعب لأنه هُلك، ونتحمل من أجل الأندية والمنتخب، ولكي لا نصنع أزمة”.
وأردف: “فوجئت بأن تصريحاتي تم تحريفها وتحولت إلى أنني قلت أن مواجهة الأهلي وبيراميدز لن تُلعب في استاد القاهرة، وكنت في حالة ذهول، وبعدها تلقيت اتصالات كثيرة، هل استاد القاهرة ملك شخصي لي؟ بالتأكيد لا، ولا بد لمن يستمع أن يستمع بعقلانية”.
واستكمل: “قلنا إننا مُستائين من تصريحات كولر، لأننا نسير مع الأهلي خطوة بخطوة، وداعمين له ولنادي الزمالك وكل الأندية، وفوجئنا بما تم تأويله، وما تم فهمه من التصريحات خطأ، لم نرفض إقامة المباراة ولم نتراجع”.
واختتم: “صيانة استاد القاهرة تكلفنا 3 ونصف مليون جنيه في الموسم، ولكي أغطي التكلفة الفعلية يتم السماح لأندية غير الأهلي والزمالك باللعب على الملعب”.
Liverpool are believed to have an "agreement in place" with a "phenomenal" world-renowned superstar over a move to Anfield, according to a new update.

For the first time in what feels like a while, the Reds actually did a significant amount of business during the summer transfer window, with the midfield undergoing huge surgery.
Last season, there were problems in the middle of the park everywhere you looked, whether it be struggling pair Fabinho and Jordan Henderson in the starting lineup most weeks, or injury-prone figures such as Thiago, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain simply not being available enough.
Liverpool made Alexis Mac Allister their first signing of the summer, with the 24-year-old arriving from Brighton, before the brilliant Dominik Szoboszlai was acquired from RB Leipzig. Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch were also brought in from VfB Stuttgart and Bayern Munich respectively, completing a good summer, even though there were still calls for a regular defensive midfielder to join, too.
Attention could now turn to the Reds improving their defence and attack moving forward, and one exciting new report suggests that that is the case.
Victor Osimhen to Liverpool
According to a fresh transfer update from Sport Witness, Victor Osimhen to Liverpool is a transfer that could come to fruition, with Italian journalist Valter De Maggio claiming that there are "agreements" between the player's side and the Reds:
"The parties had reached an agreement for the renewal, but then Calenda and Osimhen went back on their word. What happened? There was the inclusion of another club, from the Premier League. I’m talking about Liverpool.
"There would be frequent contacts, but I just learned something else: there would be agreements already reached. Let me clarify: the agreements would be between the Reds and the player, therefore they would not involve Napoli. I hope Laurentiis will be able to keep Victor Osimhen at least until June, but we can’t be sure."
Osimhen joining Liverpool would be incredibly exciting, considering the Nigerian has been one of the best strikers in the world in the past 18 months or so, inspiring Napoli to a first Serie A title since 1990.
